BONANNO, Carmel “Charlie” - It is with great sadness that the family of “Charlie” Bonanno announces his passing at home in Toronto, on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at the age of 94 years.
He was born on December 4, 1926 in Selmun, Malta. Carmel had a passion for big band music. Carmel was a founding member of the Malta Band Club which now operates in Mississauga. He volunteered countless hours to the organization.
Carmel will be missed by his son Joseph Bonanno and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bonanno.
Carmel will also be fondly remembered by his three grandchildren Victoria Bonanno (Michael Mucci), Lydia Bonanno (Dean Meloche) and Vanessa Bauer (Daniel Bauer).
Carmel will be missed by his great-grandchildren Miles and Max Mucci, Anneliese and Eleanor Bauer.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24th, 2021 at the Lynette Funeral Home, Toronto. The funeral service is to be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11am at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 3224 Dundas St W, Toronto. Interment will follow. If you wish to attend these services, please email
