HAMMAR, Douglas Alexander - 1935-2021 Doug passed away August 1, 2021.
He was the son of Alex and Esther Hammar from Kitchener, Ontario.
He is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Laurie (Doug), son Mark (Judi), grandchildren Ashley, Jonathan, Shannon, Chris and Matt, predeceased by his sister Diane (Alistair) and survived by his sister Karen (Roly) Barrett and his cousin Peter (Jenefer) Shaver.
He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Degree in Economics and Political Science and served for 63 years as the permanent class president. While there he joined the Beta Theta Phi Fraternity.
For 35 years he worked for Bell Canada in Kitchener, Montreal, and Toronto.
He represented Bell as a Board Executive for the United Way and as member of the Board of Directors of the CNE Association. Volunteering was his passion.
In 1990 his love of Arizona led he and Donna to purchase a home at the Biltmore Courts in Phoenix where he served for 4 years as the President of their HOA. He took pleasure in sharing this with his family and friends. His children and grandchildren gave him much happiness.
He was proud of who they were and all their successes. He enjoyed being with them and was grateful for their support.
Donna was his 'Beta sweetheart'. She was his best friend. May he rest in peace. He will live in our hearts forever.
