PERSANO, Iolanda (Panzarella) - Born: January 9, 1936 in Curinga, Catanzaro. Passed Away: September 13, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario.
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Iolanda at the age of 85.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Michele Antonio over 37 years ago.
Loving mother to Giovanni Battista (Shereen), and Felicia (Marc Routhier).
She was the best nonna to Sabrina (Robert Fraser), Marc, Michael, Samantha and Christian, and was blessed to see and hold her great grandchild, Odin.
She crossed the Atlantic and emigrated to Canada in 1963 with her husband while pregnant with her first child in hopes of a prosperous future. She worked at Lancia Bravo for over 20 years, and retired to look after her grandchildren – the pride and joy of her life.
She was a quiet woman, content to be with family and enjoyed the many family celebrations that brought us all together. She loved her garden and was disappointed that she could not reap the rewards of a summer harvest this year. She was happiest when we cooked and ate together.
We are blessed with the many memories shared over the years and we feel comfort knowing that she is in heaven with dad, and at peace. She gave us much and left us knowing she was going to a better place. Predeceased by her siblings Elia, Concetta, and Domenico, she will be missed by her nieces and nephews and their families.
We love you so much.
Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home, Dufferin Chapel, Toronto on Wednesday, September 15, 202. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bernard de Clairvaux Church (1789 Lawrence Ave. W., east of Jane St.) on Thursday, September 16, 2021 - time to be confirmed. Entombment will follow).
