Cooling FrederickCOOLING, Frederick  - July 15, 1909 - January 19, 2018

A long life, lived with love. Peacefully, in his 109th year, at The Good Samaritan Home, Alliston, Ontario.

Reunited at last with his beloved "Mayme" (Mary Irene Roberts).

Born July 15, 1909, in Warwickshire, England, Fred immigrated with his family to Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, where eventually he joined his father working in the Dominion Colliery No. 2.

Being a Coal Miner was an essential service during WWII, but after he was injured in the mine, Fred and Mayme brought their young family to Toronto to begin a new life in 1942.

Fred's second career as an Electrician began at De Havilland Aircraft, then with the Province of Ontario at Queen's Park, ending at Guild Electric.

Fred experienced many historic and interesting events in his lifetime and enjoyed sharing these stories to the delight of his children and grandchildren. Father to Freddie (Peter), Joan (Jack), Bill (June) and the late Lynda (late Archie). Grandfather to Douglas (Donna), John (Dominique), Daniel, Lori (Marc), Jeff (Melinda), Shawna, Chris, Leslie (Gord) and Brent (Annalea) and great-grandfather of 14 children. He and Mayme were the centre of the family, demonstrating love, strength and faith.

Fred adored children, animals, books, gardening and music. He will be remembered fondly for his quiet grace and generosity, his Cary Grant good looks and an insatiable sweet tooth.

The family wishes to thank the friendly and caring staff at Good Sam for treating Fred like a prince while he was there.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
