FLOOD, Anthony "Tony" Joseph Flood -
1934 - 2023

Passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering Hospital at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of Margaret (Sheila) (nee Sheridan) for 65 wonderful years.

Tony and Sheila grew up in St. Helens, Lancashire, England, but in 1969 set out with their two young boys in tow, moving to Sweden and then to Canada in 1972.

They settled first in Toronto and then put down roots in Burlington, where they made many great friends and had wonderful “early Christmas” parties every year.

Tony worked for many years at Gould Shawmut (now Ferraz Shawmut) in Toronto before semi-retiring and having a successful second career working to harmonize international electrical standards through the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) and similar groups.

In this role he worked with the Standards Council of Canada and was President of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC.

Survived by his loving wife Sheila and sons Martin (Leslie Junkin) and Colin (Sharon), granddaughters Samantha and Christina (Tricia), nieces Andrea O’Leary and Joanne (Simon) Barton and grandnieces and grandnephews James O’Leary, Callum O’Leary, Lucy Barton and Edward Barton.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elsie (nee Taylor), his brother Michael (Constance “Connie” (nee Jennion)) and his grandnephew Christopher O’Leary. Tony will be missed every day.

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements with McEachnie Funeral Home.

If desired, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre (JCC) via the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation (https://www.hamiltonhealth.ca/) would be very appreciated.
