Kanopoulos AfroditiKANOPOULOS, Afroditi  -  It is with great sadness that the family of Afroditi Kanopoulos announces her passing, on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the age of 89 years old.

Afroditi will be lovingly remembered by her children, Bill (Louise), and Kosta.

Afroditi will also be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren, Patrick, Michael, Aphrodite, Alexis, and Jonathan, and by her two brothers George, and Stratos.

Afroditi passed away early Christmas Eve day at North York General Hospital of Covid 19.

The family extends our thanks and admiration to the courageous staff and doctors.

They have been steadfast in dealing with not only the illness, but also with anxious family and friends who are distanced from their loved ones.

Afroditi joins her husband Pashalis only four short months after his passing.

Afroditi was an anchor in her family and took quiet pride in that role.

Her home always offered an environment of kindness and hospitality to her family and friends. Her grandchildren will carry on the traditions and recipes she taught them, which originated from her village of Asproula, Kozani.

Respecting the current lockdown provisions, the immediate family held a Funeral Service on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, followed by interment at Highland Memory Gardens, 33 Memory Gardens Lane, North York.

Father Stavros and Father Apostolos provided comfort to the family.

We thank them for their reverence in accommodating the ceremony in these difficult times. The family will invite friends and family to a memorial celebration when public health is not compromised.

We would like to thank the many who have reached out, the many who are troubled by not being able to join the family in mourning.

Your presence is felt, and we look forward to being together soon.

Those who desire may make memorial donations in memory of Afroditi to the North York General Foundation. (nyghfoundation.ca).
