Rae MaryRAE, Mary Helen (née Pashkewych) - (July 21, 1936 — March 2, 2021) -

We mourn the loss of our mother who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Mary was a loving wife to her late husband Douglas, and she was a devoted mom to Anne (Kevin), Christine (James), and James (Jennifer). A fun-loving Baba, she will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Breanna, Cameron, Kristen, Jesse, Tyler and Aidan.

Predeceased by her brothers Roman and Mike, Mary will be remembered with fondness by her sister-in-law Grace, nephews Steve and Ron, niece Laura, her cousin George and his family, and by her dearest friends Olga, Helen, Hilda, Margaret and Eddy, Jim and Judy, and Anna.

Mary was born and raised in the heart of Toronto to Ukrainian immigrant parents, Anna and Peter. A longtime resident of the Kensington market area, it was there she attended school and studied to become a legal assistant — a profession she remained dedicated to until her retirement.

As a founding member of the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Etobicoke, Mary raised her family within the school and church community, and for many years served as a volunteer organizing charitable fundraising events with the Women’s League.

A very special thank you to all the wonderful and caring staff at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre for their steadfast support while our mother was in their care.

Private funeral arrangements are entrusted with Newediuk funeral home. Webcast funeral will take place via the funeral home's website on Friday, March 12th at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family wishing to honour Mary are invited to make a donation in her name to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre.
