Survived by his two beloved sons, Joel and Lucas, and his former wife and life-long friend Sandra Van Ruymbeke, and her partner John Gibson.

He leaves behind his cherished brothers Larry (Lorrie) Lawlis, Mike (Penny) Lawlis, and John (JoAnne) Lawlis, and his nieces and nephews Kelly, Lisa C, Shawn, Zachary, Mikey, Lisa L., Sammy, Nikki Sunshine, Miranda and Rae.

Jim was predeceased by his steadfast and loving parents Phil and Lorraine Lawlis, his sister and rock Elaine Lawlis, and his little nephew Max.

Arrangements are entrusted with Ridley funeral home, Etobicoke. A ceremony to recognize Jim and his extraordinary talents will be held on Saturday starting at 1pm. Due to Covid restrictions, this will be a chapel service for family only. Details of a livestream for others to view the service will be shared on the funeral home website.

Jim did what he loved and the passion poured out of him. He was defined by his music, his music bros, his horns, his students and his boys. We hope you can join us via the livestream to celebrate and sadly say goodbye.
