Moreira AlziraMOREIRA, Alzira Maria - It is with profound sadness that the family of Alzira Maria Moreira announces her sudden passing on April 19, 2021 at the age of 74.

Alzira was born in a little place called Olhalvo, Portugal, on Feb 6 1947. Daughter of Armando Crispim and Rosa Santos and the youngest of three sisters.

Beloved wife of the late Fernando Moreira whom she met in 1970, and married in August 27, 1971. Proud mother of Sonia Moreira and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.

She had a very close and tight family. She attended school in Portugal where her favourite subject was math. In 1990 Alzira, Fernando and Sonia emigrated to Canada where she worked in the factory industry. A few years after she came to Canada, she became a Canadian Citizen which was a great accomplishment since she didn't speak too much English, but she made it.

She loved the colour blue, math, cooking, baking, crossword puzzles, singing, and was great at crocheting. She enjoyed watching Portuguese Soap operas, Family Feud and the Price is Right. Alzira had a sweet tooth for her favourite chocolate, Ferrero Rocher, but most importantly she loved reading her Bible which gave her the nourishment to live her life spiritually.

She loved and adored her three grandchildren more than anything in the world and when her great grandson was born she was the happiest person you can imagine.

Alzira was renowned for her friendly hospitality as she loved to entertain her guest with cooking and baking all her favorite things. She was filled with joy when the house was full of family and friends. She was an avid supporter and soccer fan of her favourite team Benfica, from Lisbon, Portugal. There’s so much more about her that not even words can describe. Her infectious smile, dedication and generosity will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Giffen-Mack funeral Home, Scarborough chapel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Visitation will be by invite only and the funeral service will be limited to immediate family only on Friday April 30th.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.
