MAHARAJ, Naived 'Nivi' - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Naived (Niv) Maharaj announce his unexpected passing on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the age of 35 years.
Niv was born on October 12, 1985 to Tara and Bhualdath (Bal) Maharaj in St. Joseph, Trinidad. Food was one of his many passions, and he worked in the culinary industry for 12 years before attending the Food Science and Technology program at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. Most recently, he worked in the manufacturing industry for three years in Canada.
Niv was preceded in death by his father, Bhualdath, and is survived by his mother, Tara, and his brother, Varma.
He will be lovingly remembered by his extended family and many dear friends.
Due to visitation restrictions, a private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at Taylor Funeral Home, 524 Davis Drive, Newmarket. (Livestream of the funeral service will be available from the funeral home website)
Memorial donations in memory of Niv may be made to Blue Door Shelter - Kevin’s Place Youth Shelter (835 Gorham St., Newmarket, ON L3Y 1L7).
