Petrie WilliamPETRIE, William Vincent   - August 5, 1923 - May 18, 2021

William (Bill) passed away at the Mississauga Trillium Hospital, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the age of 97.

Beloved husband of late Dorothy.

Loving father of Scott (Linda), Bob (Herma), Diane, Gordon (predeceased) (Susan), and David (Maryellen).

Proud grandfather of Jordan (Ferrin), Adam, Sean, Alison, Bryan, David (Nicole), Julie, Rachel (Tyler) and Stephanie. Caring great-grandfather of Briar, Everett, Ridley, Leyton and Sloane.

Bill was a hard-working man with immense generosity and high ambition.

He was born in Toronto, youngest of four siblings Bert, Ernie and Peter.

Bill proudly served his country in WWII as an aircraft mechanic in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Bill married his wife Dorothy Cockburn on December 6, 1947 and they were married 69 years.

The pair moved to Lorne Park, Mississauga, in 1953 to raise their family.

Bill was excellent at working with his hands and in 1948 became a licensed plumber. Shortly after, in 1951, Bill founded his own business, Wm. Petrie and Sons, a plumbing and heating company.

A few years later, in 1957, Bill added to his entrepreneurship in founding his second business, Crescent Plumbing and Heating. His love for his work was very genuine as he remained working at 93 years old alongside his eldest son, Scott.

We will greatly miss the kind and inspiring patriarch of our family.

His generosity and love are unmatched; his legacy will be carried on in the hearts, stories and memories of those who loved him.

No public service will be held due to current government restrictions. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society are appreciated by the family.
