Marchand ReneMARCHAND, Marinus Adrianus Gerardus 'Rene' - (January 18, 1934 - November 19, 2017) -  Passed peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

Marinus Adrianas Gerardus Marchand was born in Tilburg the Netherlands on January 18, 1934. He was the eldest of four siblings, including sisters Catherine and Mieke and brother Adrian. René joined the Army and performed his military service for two years from 1955 to 1957 in Holland.

Following in his father's footsteps, Rene completed his training as a hairstylist and began his career before marrying Antoinnetta Van Den Hout on January 20th, 1959.

Rene became a proud parent of a little girl, Carmen on September 29, 1959, soon followed by their second child, Yolande on February 1, 1961. In August 1962, Rene and Netty immigrated to Canada to begin a new life. On September 4, 1963, they welcomed their son Ivo into the world.

Rene opened his beauty salon the "The Beauty Island" in Galt (Cambridge) Ontario and ran a successful stylist business. Later he would go back to school and pursue a career in corrections.

In 1978, Rene and Netty would move to Vancouver where they lived until 2001, at which time Netty passed away. Shortly after that, Rene moved back to Ontario and resided with his eldest daughter until Alzheimer’s made his move to Case Manor necessary. Rene spent the last few years being cared for by the professional staff there, close to family.

Rene is survived by his children Carmen (Paul) Yolande (Frank) and Ivo (Justine); Grandchildren Devon and Rudy, Cory Sidney Lindsay and Adrianna and two great grandsons Keaton and Bowen. He has left behind his sister Mieke and Brother Adrian and was sadly predeceased by his sister Catherine.

Rene will be missed by all of his family overseas and here by the staff at Case Manor at Bobcaygeon. Many thanks to the staff of Case Manor and the staff at Stoddart funeral home who have all made this time so much easier.

Visitation will take place at STODDART FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay, Ontario on Thursday, November 23rd from 11:00 a.m. until Funeral Serving begins at 1:00 p.m.
