GERARD, Ian John Gerard  - 73, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019 at Scarborough General Hospital.

Ian was born in Fleetwood, Lancaster, England to William Edward Gerard and Mary Agnes Gregson on November 30, 1946.

He immigrated to Canada with his parents and brother in 1951.

He went to school in Toronto where he graduated from De La Salle College.

He married Pierrette Giampieri in 1969 with whom he had two sons. He later remarried to Catherine Stroyan in 1988 with whom he shared the rest of his life.

Ian worked at a CA firm in Toronto and became a Chartered Accountant in 1972. He later worked for Premium Forest Products in Toronto before joining the Federal Government where he was a respected and knowledgeable colleague. He retired from the public service in 2006 after 20 years of service.

During his retirement he enjoyed playing guitar, driving around in his Jaguar, puttering around in his gardens and spending time with family. He loved to joke around and was always ready to clown it up for a laugh.

Ian is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Stewart.

Ian is survived by his wife Catherine; his sons Colin (Bonita) and Paul (Jennifer); his grandchildren Bryce, Bridget, Briar, Larissa and Braeden; Sister-in-law Karen; his nieces Christie and Lauren and nephew Stewart, Jr.; great-nieces Taylor, Hunter, Samantha and Adeline.

Ian will be missed.
