WHITE, Maraithe Primrose  - (January 23, 1939 – September 5, 2020)

Maraithe White died peacefully at home from complications related to Parkinsons, with her family and life-long friend by her side.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband David in November 2019.

Maraithe was a wonderful mother to Sarah (Paul), Andrew (Suzanne), Richard (Kelli) and Alexandra (Lee).

Her grandchildren Meagan Cleary (Helder), Graham Cleary (Rhiannon), Aaron Cleary (Jeannine), Jocelyn Lyles, Duncan and Nathalie White, Michael and Robby White, and 5 great grandsons remember family gatherings and the fun and chaos of those family times.

Maraithe was born in Balham, England January 23, 1939. Maraithe lost her father at age 3 – an airman in WWII - and was raised by her mother Isobel Freeborn.

She immigrated to Canada with her mother and brother Mick after the war but returned to England after 5 years. She finished school and worked as a comptometer operator in an office.

Maraithe met her beloved husband David during this time and they married in May of 1959.

After the birth of their first baby she left office work behind and devoted her life to her husband and children. During the early years of motherhood Maraithe met her neighbour Anne Aurelius and a lifelong friendship was cemented.

As much as David and Maraithe loved England, they decided that with a growing family they wanted to pursue the opportunities a new life in Canada could offer. David set off to prepare the way; Maraithe and the children followed 6 months later in March 1967.

During Maraithe’s time alone in England her friendship with Anne grew. They shared many laughs over coffee and biscuits. Anne helped Maraithe with the care of the 3 young children and making preparations for the big move.

Maraithe and David settled into their new life in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. Shortly after Anne came for a visit and to make a long story short never left. Maraithe and David’s first Canadian baby was born to complete the family of 6.

Maraithe’s faith and love for God was unwavering; being part of a church family was the foundation of her personal faith.

Through the years Maraithe was part of 3 churches. Her faith and love for God sustained her during some difficult times, and the relationships she made with friends at each of the churches were a network of support and care.

After the loss of David complications related to Parkinson’s became a day to day struggle for Maraithe. Anne, her cherished friend, became a devoted caregiver and because of this Maraithe was able to remain in her family home full of memories where she slipped peacefully away surrounded by those she loved and who loved her.

Funeral arrangements have been made through McEachnie Funeral Home in Ajax.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial donations be made to Parkinsons Canada.
