GERRITS, William "Bill"  -  Christened Wilhelmus Adrianus Martinus Gerrits  April 27, 1938 – July 3, 2021

William "Bill" Gerrits passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Lakeridge Health, Port Perry in his 84th year with his family by his side.

Bill immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands with his family in 1947 at the age of 9.

He is one of 8 children.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife Loida and his children Marty (Paula) Gerrits of Forest, Laurie Gerrits of Lindsay, Brent (Ailsa) Gerrits of Crofton, BC, and Ria (Will) Louissaint of Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Grandchildren Kyrian, Arianna and Jayson.

His brothers John Gerrits (Henriette), Tony Gerrits (Merla) and his sisters Geraldine Crombeen (Robert), Joanne DeGurse, Mary Degurse, Gertie Martin (Robert), his sister-in-law Jean Gerrits and mother to his youngest son; Linda Gerrits. Bill was predeceased by his parents Martin Gerrits and Gertrude Lange, his brother Gerry and brothers-in-law Joe and Tom. Bill was an entrepreneur.

Testing his skills in many areas, but started his Heating and Air Conditioning experience with George Dzisiak in Pt. Edward at an early age. He then moved to Toronto to start his own business.

He was very successful in all his adventures and was the founder of Sawmill Creek Golf Course in Camlachie. He was a proud member of the Freemasons Lodge, Cassia #116 in Thedford, the Shrine Club of Sarnia. He was the elected Potentate of Mocha Temple in 2000; a position of which he treasured dearly.

Visitation will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, Port Perry on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 1 to 4 p.m.  A private family service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, Port Perry. Bill will be laid to rest at the Thornton Cemetery in Oshawa.
