De SOUSA, Antonio Fernando De Sousa  -  1935-2021

António “Tony” Sousa, “Avô Tony”, 86 years old, was called home to heaven on Sunday, August 29, 2021, after a brief battle with Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease.

His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggles, and he is now finally at Peace.

Tony was born in Pico, Açores, Portugal. He was the eldest of two children.

His younger brother, Carlos, sadly passed away in 2010.

Tony immigrated to Canada with his wife Jerónima in 1972, along with their 3 children, a suitcase each in search of freedom and the promise of a brighter future.

And after over 40 years of marriage, Jerónima sadly passed away back in 2005.

Tony is survived by his three children, Helder (Paulette), Maria (Manuel), and Emily (Emanuel);  grandchildren, Andrew (Camille), Christopher (Gillian), Kelly, Mark, Matthew (Amanda), Ryan, and Darren (Leah); nephews Carlos and Joey; as well as many loving extended family members in Canada, Portugal, and the United States.

Tony was faith-filled, he followed the Gospel values, and was a very good Catholic who attended Mass regularly.  He was gentle, kind, and loving, enjoyed spending time with his family, and found immense pleasure in bonding with his many grandchildren. He will be missed.

Rest in Peace.
