McCartan FergusMCCARTAN, Fergus McCartan  -

October 2, 1942 - August 14, 2023

(Ballyward, N. Ireland Oct. 2, 1942).  It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our Dad, Fergus McCartan on August 14, 2023 at the age of 80.

Beloved husband of Catherine "Kathy" (nee: Cullen) for 61 years.

Father of Kathleen (David), Fergus (Sharon L) and Shane (Carrie).

Loving Grandad to Brittany, Sara, Melissa, Jed, Kathryn and Paul.

Raised at the horseshoe Ballymagreehan, Leitrim, Co. Down in Northern Ireland, until he immigrated to Canada, where he met his wife, Kathy. After a couple of trips back and forth, they finally made their home in Ontario, even though his heart was always in Ireland.

He spent 45 years with the Carpenter's Local 27. His love was carpentry...anything with wood, and in the latter years of his life he took up wood carving.

He will be sorely missed by his siblings in Ireland. Sisters Mary, Doreen and brother Paddy. He is predeceased by his sister Tishy.

The 3 McCartan's that immigrated to Canada have all passed this year.

May they all rest in peace and share in a drink or two; Seamus, Josephine & Fergus.

There will be a funeral mass held at St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Tuesday August 22nd at 10:30am. His ashes will then go back home to Ireland.

To place online condolences please visit  armstrongfh.ca .

In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunnybrook (Odette) Cancer Centre would be appreciated.
