Zilstra EdithZILSTRA, Edith  – Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 13th 2023, at the age of 87, at the end of a long journey with dementia.

 

Beloved wife of the late Duke Zilstra.

 

Loving mother of Dan (Janet), David (Marie) and Don (Carolyn).

 

Proud Nana of 8 grandchildren.

 

Survived by her sisters Jane Van Slageren, Brenda McGary, Kathleen (Epp) Talstra and sister-in-law Lucy Vanderhoek.

 

Predeceased by Howard (Alice & Lavalle) Vanderhoek, Sylvia (Schelte) Devries, John Vanderhoek and brothers-in-law Ray Van Slageren and Harold McGary.

 

Edith was an ‘Avon Lady’ for many years and worked in the shoe department at Sears for over 20 years. She was a longtime active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Whitby.

 

Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 209 Cochrane Street, Whitby on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 12pm until the time of the funeral service at 1pm. Interment will be held at Groveside Cemetery, 5155 Baldwin Street South, Whitby.

 

Reception to follow at  W.C. TOWN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 110 Dundas Street East, Whitby.

 

If desired, donations in Edith’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or to the charity of your choice..
