JULY 25, 1950 – DECEMBER 13, 2023
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Luis Goncalves after a brief illness.
He was surrounded by his loving wife, Dina Goncalves, his daughter, Elizabeth Goncalves, his son, Gary Goncalves, and his daughter-in-law, Sylvia Howard-Goncalves.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends here in Canada and in Portugal. He was a generous, fun-loving and kind man whose love for his family was obvious to all who witnessed it. He was the owner of a well-known Portuguese catering business in Toronto for over 20 years and lived to make people happy, and make their celebrations as memorable as possible.
He was the heart of our family, often beginning his day with a song and a smile. He was a great storyteller and loved being around friends and family, and retelling stories of his past or making jokes to lighten the mood.
His smile and charisma could win over anyone he met.
He loved the outdoors, fishing and teaching himself how to build or fix things around the house. He was lovingly called MacGyver by his family for his genius problem-solving skills. We were blessed to have him in our lives.
Family and friends may attend a visitation at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME at 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. with a reception afterwards.
