October 27, 1924 - December 13, 2023


Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023, at the age of 99.

Beloved wife of the late Stanley Lovell for more than 60 years.

Cherished mother of Diana Kirk (Rob), Arthur (Judy) and Linda McGill (the late Peter).

 

Loving Nana of Ron Kirk (Shawna), Stephanie deWaard (Jeremy), Christopher, Allison and Andrew (Emily).

 

Grana to Brock, Sam, Autumn, Weston & Bennett.

Predeceased by her parents Norman & Edna Down.

Dear sister of Lloyd, Elmer, Jean Osborne & Bruce. Predeceased by her siblings Allan, Carl, Marjorie Worden, Ella Gormley, Muriel Metcalf & Wes.

Wilma will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Wilma was a farm girl at heart. She was born into a large and loving family in Oshawa. She was known for her thoughtfulness, kindness and was always gracious to everyone.

 

Wilma and her husband Stan owned and managed Lovell Drugs for many years.

 

Wilma was the proud owner of The Gift House for over 30 years.

 

Community champions and philanthropists throughout their lives Stan & Wilma contributed to many local charities including, Parkwood Estate, Lakeridge Health Oshawa Foundation, Ebenezer United Church, Community Foundation Durham Region “Stanley E. Lovell Family Fund”, Ontario Tech, and Durham College.

Thank you to entire team of PSW’s and Doctors who allowed Wilma to live out her days in comfort surrounded by her family at home. Special thanks to Palma, Cherry, Carol, and the Palliative Care Team from Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

A Private Family Service will take place at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa. Interment to follow at Ebenezer United Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Ebenezer United Church, Parkwood Foundation, Community Foundation Durham Region “Stanley E. Lovell Family Fund” or Lakeridge Health Oshawa Foundation would be graciously appreciated by the family.
