ROUND, Gary Round  -

February 1, 1951 - February 10, 2024

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday February 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Son of the late Frank and Olive Round.

Devoted husband of 48 years to Darlene “Dar” (nee Abraham).

Loving father to Heather Stover (Chad), Kirk Round (Denise) and Allison Wrona (Matt). Proud grandfather to Sarah, Sawyer, Cole and Nolan.

Cherished younger brother to Scott Round (Lynn).

Gary was born and raised in the suburbs of Montreal.

After attending Bishop's University, he met and fell in love with Darlene while they were both working at the Toronto Dominion Bank.

Gary found his career calling in advertising, and they moved to Toronto in 1977, followed by a relocation to Markham to raise their family. In 2011, they moved to their dream home on Crystal Lake, north of Fenelon Falls.

Gary was a true sports fan. As a football player, it was once written ‘he was harder to tackle than a rolling manhole cover.’

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date in the spring.

The family would like to thank the wonderful team of doctors and nurses who cared for, supported and encouraged Gary during his illness.

A special thank you goes out to the team at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, for their kindness and compassion during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Oak Ridges Hospice.
