BREZNIKAR, Ana Breznikar - (Long time Member of Immaculate Conception CWL)

Ana passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024 with her daughter by her side at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa.

Loving daughter of the late Marica and Adam Liefert of Croatia.

Predeceased by her husband Zvonimir “Zvonko” Breznikar.

She leaves behind her children, Ivan (Lucy), Pete (Carol), Steve (Julie), and Maria (Frank). Cherished grandmother “Baka” to Devin (Nicola), Merissa (Michael), Matthew, Sarah (Fred), Nicholas (Sasha) and Jacob and great Baka of River Zvonko.

She was predeceased by her sister Katica (Branko).

She will be missed by her extended family and friends. Born in Croatia in 1932 Ana was a child during the war and faced many hardships and challenges. She moved to Canada with her young son Ivan and met and married her husband Zvonko.

Together they raised four children and again faced hardships such as a house fire that totally destroyed the family home.

Ana was an extremely hard worker, she cleaned houses when she first moved to Canada, worked at a hospital, was a business owner with running a butcher shop, a farmer, a member of the Catholic Women’s League for as long as she possibly could and above all a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was devoted with her faith, determined, spoke her mind honestly and was kind and complementary right until her last days.

The family would like to thank Family, neighbours and friends who helped through the years, Chartwell Wynfield Retirement home where she was a resident for their constant care and support over the years, Lakeridge Health Oshawa; in particular the 5th floor staff, the palliative care unit staff and Dr. Sam who all provided comfort, care and compassion throughout her journey and support to the family.

Mom/Baka you will be missed greatly and always be remembered.

Rest In Peace and May God hold you in the palm of his hands always. The family of Ana Breznikar will receive friends at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Saturday, February 17th from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, The Immaculate Conception CWL or Ronald McDonald House.
