FREEMAN, Eileen  -  It is with sadness to announce the passing of Eileen Addie Freeman, age 84, on June 30, 2022, at Belleville General Hospital.

She was the widow of James (Jim) Thornton Freeman, a loving mother to J. Kevin, mother-in-law to Danli and grandmother to Kenna and Moira.

Eileen was the daughter of the late Angus Douglas (AD) and Lillian McFadyen of Argyle, Ontario.

She was a dear sister to Pauline Shaw of Los Angeles and was predeceased by her younger sister, Marjorie Watson (Carl) and her brothers, Clare (Margaret), Eldon (Helen) and Donnie.

She was sister-in-law to Wayne (Anne) of Burlington and Paul (Joanne) of Bancroft and was predeceased by Douglas (Freda), John (Anne) and Gloria Connolly (Joe).

She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. In her late teens, she left the family farm to attend Ontario Teachers College in Toronto.

She was a teacher for 36 years, a short time in Toronto, most years in Belleville. During her later teaching years in Belleville, she bravely attended Queen's University, where in her own words was the "maturest of mature students".

Eileen enjoyed travelling, especially going on cruises, perhaps to seek out some worthy opponents for a good game of cards.

She was a gifted seamstress with an impressive inventory of fabrics and supplies at the ready.

A private interment at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay, where she will be reunited with her husband, Jim.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Belleville General Hospital or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
