Gerrard KarenGERRARD, Karen  -

December 15, 1946 - May 29, 2023

It's with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Karen Patricia Gerrard (nee Carpenter).

She was a loving wife to Drew; amazing mother to Jodi, Michelle and Todd; a beloved mother-in-law to Rob, Rick and Heather; and an awesome grandmother to Taylor, Will and Zoe.

She was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Josephine Carpenter. Born in England, Karen moved to Canada as a young girl.

Her family eventually settled in Toronto where she met the love of her life, Drew.

They would have been married 57 years this July. Karen and Drew and their 3 young children moved to Markham in 1973.

Karen had a successful, well-respected career as a real estate broker managing several offices as well as being a long-time board member of TRREB.

Karen became a member of The Thornhill Club nearly 50 years ago where she curled for years and was an avid golfer. Over the years, Karen was involved with community sports and various fundraising efforts including the Celebration of Hope for Breast Cancer.

Karen battled hard against the cancer that would eventually take her from us. She died peacefully with her family at her side. She will always be loved and greatly missed.

A wife, mom and grandma...Karen will forever be in our hearts.

As per Karen's wishes, a private family service was held.

Donations to the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
