Bradley JohnBRADLEY, SR., John Deacon  - John Deacon Bradley, Sr., age 96, passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital on Monday, August 13, 2018.

John was 10 days shy of his 97th birthday.

John was born in Ottawa, August 23, 1921 to Gurley (nee Deacon) and Jack Bradley.

John spent a great deal of time in Detroit as a teenager with his favourite aunt and uncle and won several junior tennis championships.

In 1941-1945, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Captain and became a pilot, ferrying planes from Canada to Europe earning the 1939-45 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service and World War II Medal.

After the war, he returned to school, earning his degree with a BA in Philosophy and Law from the University of Toronto. His career began as a reporter for the Toronto Star and within five years, he was named City Editor to the Toronto Telegram.

After the paper, he established his own public relations company, John Bradley & Associates.

Preceded in death by his oldest daughter Gillian Bradley, John is survived by his three children John Bradley (Simone), Jane Bradley (Michael), Meghan Bradley (Paul), and his grandchildren Kimberly (Simon), Nicholas (Mika), Stefanie, Michael, Bradley (Catie), Jason, Christopher and Davis and great-grandchildren, Liam, Maeryn, Finn, Marcus, Julius and Abby.

We would also like to acknowledge numerous friends like Maureen Milne and Gillian and John Bowes.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Sunnybrook Chapel, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto with Chaplain Jim Huth presiding. We will celebrate Dad's life immediately following the ceremony at The Miller Tavern, lower level, 3885 Yonge Street, Toronto (parking at rear of restaurant).

Our thanks to the wonderful people at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre for John's excellent care these past few months.
