Bibes LouieBIBES, Louie (Ilias) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louie (Ilias) Bibes on Friday, August 24th, 2018 at the age of 90.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Sofia Bibes, his daughters Erini (Zinon) Petkopoulos, Areti (John) Karis, his grandchildren Stephanie Petkopoulos, Sophie(Craig) Cunha, Nicholas (Nadia) Petkopoulos, Stephan and Alexander Karis and his 4 great grandchildren Sarah, Andrew, Christian and Isabella.

Louie was a devoted family man who put everyone else before himself. He emigrated from Greece to Canada to make a better life for his wife and children.

Louie loved his work as a porter at Wellesley hospital and enjoyed that work for over 25 years. For those who knew Louie, he loved to share his experiences and was an avid story teller whose razor sharp memory didn't leave out a single detail. He spent hours in his beloved garden and was every raccoon and squirrels worst enemy.

Louie was a strong man and could handle anything that came his way. A cat is known to have 9 lives, but Louie had 15. His perseverance to live and love for his family allowed him to be with us for 90 years.

Louie’s was a loving husband to his wife to Sofia for 64 years. He was a loving dad, who demonstrated that hard work, respect and good family values was the way to succeed in life. His “Hello My Sweethearts” greeting will be forever remain in our hearts. He will be forever remembered by his grandchildren as a hero and inspiration who devoted his unconditional love. His memory will live on in the stories his grandchildren will share and pass along to his beloved great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the wonderful team at Chester Village who treated Louie with respect and dignity. Your dedicated care during Louie’s stay, will never be forgotten.

Our hearts are broken but our memories of you will be forever eternal. Heaven has gained an angel. Rest in peace.

Visitation will be held at Heritage funeral centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto on Monday, August 27th from 3-9 pm.

A funeral service will be held in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive, Toronto at 10 am on Tuesday, August 28th. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery.
