Andriano MariaANDRIANO, Maria Giuseppina  -  The gates of Heaven have opened to welcome Maria Giuseppa Andriano (nee Racco). Giuseppina, passed away peacefully at home in Woodbridge, Ontario on September 28, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Although we are profoundly saddened by our loss we are also extremely proud of the grace and dignity that Giuseppina demonstrated throughout her more than 100 years of life.

Born on January 24,1918 in Marcina Superiore, Reggio Calabria, Giuseppina was the beloved wife of Vincenzo Andriano for more than 75 years.

Together Giuseppina and Vincenzo were blessed with 7 children, Vincenzina (Giuseppe) Racco, Alfredo (Katherine), Ada (Umberto) DiProspero, Rosa (Vincenzo) Condarcuri, Maria (Michele) D’Andrea, John and Rita. Their family grew to include 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Giuseppina will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  The 'Regina della nostra famiglia', Giuseppina devoted her life to her husband, family and business. She ruled the kitchen of Joe’s Snack Service Limited where she worked tirelessly side by side with her husband and family past her 80th birthday completely disregarding the retirement party held in their honor. Giuseppina always demonstrated bravery, fortitude and determination as evidence when she traveled alone with 5 young children across the ocean to a new life in Canada in 1956.

A great source of wisdom and sound advice, Giuseppina lovingly watched over her flock. Always proud and well respected, Giuseppina loved to douse herself in perfume and lotion while sporting red lipstick and high heels. Although her long battle with Alzheimer's  left her dependent on her family and devoted caregivers she still pursed her lips when she felt the lipstick gliding across.

Giuseppina leaves her sister Rosa (DeMatties) and was predeceased by her brothers Rocco, Cosimo and Nicodemo, and sisters Concetta (Quattrone), Carmela (Middonti), Teresa (Gelsomino) and Immacolata (Gargano).

The Andriano family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone that helped Nonno and Nonna live with respect and dignity. Our parents were able to fulfill their wish of living out their lives at home due to the care, compassion and dedication of Dr. Vincent Maida, Shelly and the caregivers who lovingly watched over our parents for the past 10 years. A very special thank you to Celina and Jonabelle for their love and devotion.

Visitation will be held at Ward funeral home, Woodbridge, 4671 Hwy 7, Vaughan, On, on Sunday, September 30th, from 2pm to 9pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 8500 Islington Ave., Woodbridge, On, on Monday, October 1st, at 9:30am. Private Interment.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
