DYER, Frederic William  - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Dyer after ninety-five years of a well-lived life.

Predeceased by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Amy Evelyn (née McLaren), in 2006, Fred is mourned by his children, Debbie, Patty (Ernest) and Fred Jr. (Kari), grandchildren Jameson, Erin and Kathryn and great-grandchildren Hayden and Hannah.

Born in Toronto in 1923, Fred attended Jarvis Collegiate before joining the RCAF for WWII. Returning, he married Ev and spent a long, happy career with Kopas and Burrit, financial agents, retiring for some years to Bracebridge before returning to Toronto's Sunnybrook Hospital.

Of primary importance to Fred was family, the centre for Fred's family being the Bracebridge cottage, named teamhair, Gaelic for "gathering place."

From 1959, to his last days, the cottage was his focus. Fred's interests included St. Paul's and St. Columba's Anglican churches, Avonlea Curling Club and Victoria Village's Civitan, indeed, the entire Victoria Village community, along with South Muskoka Golf Club Bracebridge. Ultimately, Sunnybrook Veterans' Hospital became his home and the fellow residents his friends.

Of particular note are Al Smith, a lifelong friend, and Chris, his companion. Warm thanks to the staff for their thoughtful care. Visitation will take place at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, October 14th, 3-5 p.m. Funeral services will follow at the same site, Monday, October 15th, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to The Arthritis Society or the World Wildlife Federation.
