Kim HwailKIM, Hwail  -  Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday October 20, 2018.

Beloved husband to Song Sook, devoted father to Sandra (Arjun) and Julie (Robert), loving grandfather to Noah, Zachary, Chloe and Sophia.

Younger brother of Chan Seong (Ellen), Chan Jung (Kwang Eun) and the late Chan Gook (Yoon Soon Sung). Son of the late Wan Sik Kim and late Ho Kyu Lee.

Hwail immigrated with his wife to Canada from Seoul, South Korea in 1971 and raised his family as a computer programmer.  He was a hardworking man who was dedicated to his faith and community, and served through many roles in the Korean-Canadian United Church.  In his spare time, he was known for his passion for designing and woodworking in making extraordinary things with very little.  He was an avid reader, who loved travelling, photography and classical music and to sing in the church choir before slowly losing his hearing from surviving cancer treatment in 2001.

Although he suffered from slowly progressive ailments related to his remote cancer treatment, he was able to enjoy his precious grandchildren.  His recent passing was unexpected and he will be deeply missed by his family and loved ones.

We invite you to join us for the celebration of Hwail Kim’s life at the R.S. Kane funeral home, Toronto.   The visitation will be held on Wednesday October 24 at 6pm and service at 7pm, followed by a reception. A processional and committal service will be held on Thursday October 25, 2018 at 10am at the R.S. Kane funeral home, followed by the interment at York Cemetery at 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following charities, The Canadian Cancer Society, http://convio.cancer.ca/goto/hwailkim, The United Church of Canada, https://www.united-church.ca/donate.
