DOLSON, Walter Gordon  -  August 27, 1920 – November 7, 2018

After a long life, Walter has passed at the incredible age of 98 at Thorntonview Long Term Care in Oshawa.

He endured many years of limited sight due to macular degeneration and in later years experienced limited mobility, but until recently didn't allow them to cloud his optimism and enjoyment of life.

Walter's best years were undoubtedly spent growing up at 140 Lee Avenue in the Beach area of Toronto with his parents, John and Eltana, and 8 siblings.

In retirement, he and his late wife, Audrey, had good times at their trailer in Omemee and wintering in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Walter is survived by his daughter, Deborah and her husband, Lee Frankland and grandchildren Nicola Brannan (Andrew), Gregory Frankland and Julia Shaw (David). He was blessed with 5 great-grandsons, Grant, Noel and Myles Brannan and Cullen and Bennett Shaw. He leaves behind a sister, Joyce Andaloro and brother, Don Dolson (Verna), along with many nieces and nephews whom he enjoyed seeing every year at the Dolson Family Picnic.

He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Smith, companion Mona Whittaker and siblings, Jean, Frieda, Ethel, Victor, Rita and Doug.

Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Thorntonview who truly enjoyed Walter and his unique sense of humour and did their best to care for him, a daily challenge with his independent nature. Arrangements for cremation have been made through Simple Alternative.

Walter will be interred at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in a private family service.

In tribute to Walter and his love of peanut butter, beer and Toronto sports teams, we invite you to crack open a cold beer, make yourself a peanut butter sandwich, tune into a Leafs' game and toast a man who lived life simply and was a good friend to many.
