Sawyer HaroldSAWYER, Harold Robert John - Age 84, passed away peacefully at the Headwaters Health Center in Orangeville on the morning of Saturday, December 1, 2018.

His beloved wife, Joan, was by his side as he was ushered into eternity.

He grew up in Bowling Green, Ontario with three brothers: Howard, Glen, Barry, and one sister, Ruth (Gate), all of whom have previously passed away.

Harold and Joan (Wagstaff) were married on March 30, 1957 in Laurel, Ontario. They have two children: Neil (Deb) of Minnesota and Craig (Cindy) of Nova Scotia.

Harold was known for his generosity and humour. He and Joan travelled thousands of miles to visit their children and grandchildren; they were foster parents to a number of kids and honorary grandparents to many others. He was a hockey coach in his younger years and an avid fan of Orangeville Northman Lacrosse.

He could be seen cutting lawns, shoveling snow, giving rides, and delivering meals to myriads of people.

Harold had an endearing sense of humour. He was a practical joker and did not let age sour his zest for life. It was an adventure to play cards and crokinole with Harold and Joan.

Harold was an active part of Compass Community Church. He and Joan volunteered as greeters at the church and would often invite newcomers for lunch after church. The Bible was his life guide and Jesus was his Rock and Saviour.

Harold did not want a funeral service. His wishes were to be cremated and have a Celebration Service with Joan at the time of her passing.

A special thanks to the many who provided emotional and physical support to Harold in the past year. He treasured your acts of kindness.
