Humphries RennieHUMPHRIES, Renata ‘Rennie' McLachin - Passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2018.

Cherished mother of Honor McLachlin (Andrew Fraser), Sarah Atkins (Mark) and Lindsay Ryan (David).

Much loved grandmother to Adam and Colin Fraser, Connor and Madeline Atkins and Campbell Ryan.

Beloved wife of William (Bill) Humphries.

She was loved by her brother Leighton McCarthy (Brenda) as well as her large extended McCarthy and Wilckes families.

Fondly remembered by her first husband, Ian McLachlin.

Rennie was born February 5, 1941 in New York City to John and Ruth McCarthy, raised in Toronto, and attended Bishop Strachan School, Neuchatel Junior College, McGill University, as well as OISE at U of T. Some of her happiest years were living in Calgary (1977 to 1985), full of skiing, hiking, golfing and camping with family and friends.

Our mother was passionate about volunteering at the Junior League of Calgary, the Glenbow Museum and Ronald McDonald House. The Georgian Bay held a special place in her heart; she would return every summer to spend time with family and friends at her cottage on Longuissa Bay.

Rennie satisfied her boundless curiosity by traveling to faraway places and exploring the world’s wonders. She will also be remembered for her love of the ballet, opera, cooking, art and music.

We will miss her beautiful smile, her laughter, her strength, her loyalty and her love.

The family is grateful to her tireless and loving caregivers, Tsering, Yeshi, and Choenyi, who helped Rennie navigate the challenges of her final years with grace and dignity. Thank you also to the staff at The Briton House, where she lived her final years. As well as the doctors and nurses from the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care.

Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Rennie’s life at Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto on Friday, December 21st at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Canada or The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

Rennie is now at peace and will be always in our hearts.
