Gnanaratnam SivamoneeGNANARATNAM, Sivamonee - (Born November 1927 - Called to eternal life: 30 December 2018)

She will be missed dearly by her children Saitha, Vimmie, and Rajiv, in-laws, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who had an impact on her life.

Siva was born in Matale, Ceylon, had her education at Baptist Mission School (BMS) in Matale. She was predeceased by her sister Mrs. Thillaraja and brothers Murugiah and Dharmaratnam.

At the age of 19 she married Edward Balasingham Gnanaratnam and spent her life in the plantation both in Rubber and Tea. At the age of 47 she landed in Canada and started pursuing a career for the first time in her life.

When she retired at age 65, she was diagnosed with Gastrointestinal Stromal tumour. Along with surgery, radiation and experimental colon cancer drug called Gleevec which she volunteered to be tested on helped her to survive and also to provide hope and courage to other cancer victims.

She continued to strive in all areas of life with enthusiasm, vigour and vitality, not succumbing to her setbacks. Her life surely was not one of easy passage, but one of tumultuous challenging circumstances. She was an inspiration to the community. Her faith and belief in Christ was a testament of her prolonged life.

Visitation at Giffen-Mack funeral home, 4115 Lawrence Ave. East, Scarborough, Ontario on January 3rd from 2 - 4pm and 6 - 8pm.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Margaret in the Pines Anglican Church, 4130 Lawrence Ave. E., Scarborough on January 4th at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Princess Margaret Hospital in memory of Sivamonee.
