Bell KathleenBELL, Kathleen (Kathy)  -  Was born September 6, 1941, in Peterborough, England.  During her teenage years she came into a living relationship with Jesus.  Thus began a journey of over half a century in which she found Jesus as her steady friend, guide and confidant. Kathy often remarked she had not been spared trials, but she had passed through them in wonderful company.

After training as a teacher and then teaching for two years in a First Nations school in Moose Lake, Manitoba, Kathy applied for missionary service.

She was accepted by the then Ceylon India General Mission and in 1965, at the age of 25, she left for Pakistan. It was there she would serve for 36 years.  She became proficient in both the Urdu and Punjabi languages. As a capable teacher, she taught many young Christian women to read as well as teaching them the Bible. The local Christian churches were blessed with her work in the training of Sunday school teachers and in drawing attention to the needs of women and children in remote villages.  Always creative in her thinking, she rented a home in a desert area that had a well in the courtyard.  From that well she was able to supply water to the many women, both Christian and Muslim, who came to her door.   Kathy was a gifted mentor and encourager and continuously worked to encourage the local Christians in leadership development.  Always ready to give a listening ear and good counsel when asked, she was respected by church leadership and was often sought out for advice.

In 2001 Kathy returned to Canada where she was involved in various ministries with Southeast Asians.  Both her home and heart were always open for those who needed encouragement, a listening ear or someone with whom they could pray.  Although Kathy officially retired in 2006 she remained active in ministry right till the end of her life.

On January 1, 2019, Kathy, having suffered with cancer, slipped quietly into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

As a loving mother, she leaves behind her son, Juma Raza, and his fiancée, Christina Trozzolo.   She will be greatly missed by her only sister Judy, brother-in-law Bernie Lesage, and their two children, Michael and Heather; John Vaughan (brother) and Sonya Vaughan.  Kathy was predeceased by her brother David Vaughan.

Service will be held at Christ Church Anglican - Brampton, 4 Elizabeth Street North, Brampton, ON, on Saturday, January 5th, at 11am. Interment Boston Mills Cemetery, Caledon, ON.
