Stocco AngeloSTOCCO, Angelo Valentino - It is with great sadness that the family of Angelo Valentino Stocco announces his passing on Monday May 27, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

He was born in Resana, Veneto, Italy. At the young age of 19, he left the security of home and family for a new country - Canada. When he arrived in Toronto in August 1954, he did not have the advantages of a family patrimony.

He only had his enthusiasm, artistry, abundant curiosity, and dedication to honest work. These traits helped him develop the skills necessary to become a specialized craftsman—a tile setter—which gave him a tremendous sense of accomplishment and great pride.

He married the love of his life, Imelda Luisetto, and together they raised a family of three children: Lauretta, Paul and Marilena. Though his beginnings were humble, Angelo recognized the importance of education and the role that it would play in shaping the lives of his children. Through dedication and self-sacrifice, he and Imelda supported the educational goals of their children and they were immensely proud of all of their children’s accomplishments.

After retiring, and In his later years, Angelo found time to volunteer at the Veneto Centre for which he received the Order of Merit of the Veneto Federation in 2001. He also found time to put his competitive spirit to good use while playing bocce with his many friends. He was an avid walker who enjoyed the outdoors well into his 80’s. He enjoyed meeting new people and he loved to laugh.

He will be missed by his loving and caring wife of 58 years Imelda, his children Lauretta, Paul and Marilena, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, son-in-law Jim, grandchildren John, Katia and Eric, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

He is predeceased by his father Vito, his mother Severina and his brothers Giuseppe and Bruno. At the funeral of his brother Bruno, it was said "Bruno has left us for a better place. He liked to think it was a little place by a river. A place where his brother Giuseppe has started on a small house which Bruno can now help finish. When the youngest brother Angelo gets there, they'll get a small boat and the three brothers will go fishing together ...

"Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, Toronto on May 30, 2019 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The service will take place at St. Roch's Roman Catholic Church, 2889 Islington Avenue, Toronto on May 31, 2019 at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
