BAILEY, Luciene (Lynch) - Luciene Bailey, formerly Lynch, passed away peacefully after a long illness on June 28th, 2019, at the age of 82.

She was born on July 30th, 1936 in the parish of St. Peter in Barbados, to the late Gwendolyn (née Russell) and Seibert Lynch.

Luciene will be deeply missed by her children Maxine and Cameron Bailey; grandchildren April and Tate; great-granddaughter of Maia; sister to Roy, Margaret, Harriet, Juanita, and Althea Lynch, Ruth Pierre, Patricia Sobers and the late Martin Lynch.

Luciene was also beloved by her nieces and nephews; Michelle, Judith, Sherry, Brendan, Danielle and Nicholai Lynch, Colin Pierre, Michelle Phillips, Amanda Lynch-Foster and Danielle Brathwaite-Lynch, Stefan and Paul Sobers, and the late Mark Walters and her vast number of friends and colleagues from North York General Hospital, formed during her years of nursing.

Luciene will be best remembered for her elegance, her sly sense of humour, and her remarkable gardening talents. She lived a pioneering life, leaving Barbados at age 18 to study and work in England, then leaving England for another new life in Canada. At each stage, she broke new ground with courage, determination and grace.

Visitations for Luciene will be held on Friday, July 5th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 4115 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough, Ontario.

Funeral service to take place the following day on Saturday, July 6th at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity Guildwood, 85 Livingston Road, Scarborough. Private cremation to follow.

Donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity Guildwood or the Arthritis Society of Canada in Luciene’s memory.
