Parthenis GeorgePARTHENIS, George - It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of George Parthenis. Our father passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 4, 2019.

Pre-deceased by his loving wife, Vasiliky of over 60 years.

Beloved father of Jim (Maria), Tula (Warren) and Vivian and cherished grandfather of Jordan.

Born in Trikala, Greece on February 27, 1927, George immigrated to Canada with his wife, Vasiliky and son, Jim. They travelled on the great ship, the Queen Frederika in the month of October, 1959, landing in Halifax, Nova Scotia and settling in Toronto, Canada.

George was a hard-working and devoted family man. He was a trained machinist who worked in the manufacturing sector for over 40 years. He took great pride in his work but was most proud of building a beautiful life in Canada which grew to include his daughters, Tula and Vivian.

Dad was a strong, kind-hearted and gentle soul who always put his family first.

Upon retirement, George was a regular member of the Greek-Canadian Social Club where he played backgammon on a daily basis and was a repeat champion. He enjoyed his time at the club, socializing with his friends and even competed in several games a few days before his passing.

Our beloved father, you are now eternally reunited with your loving wife, Vasiliky. This brings us a sense of inner peace at this time of great sorrow.

Dad, you will always be our Champion, greatly missed and live in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Sunday, October 6th, 2019 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Drive, Toronto on Monday, October 7th, 2019 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow.
