Pau KwokPAU, Kwok-Keung 'Augustine' - Often being referred to as KK, "Pau See", "Ah Pau" was a man of love and courage, integrity, discipline, reliability, generosity, and respect who passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

These are the qualities he held with pride and practiced everyday, even throughout his illness, earning him high recognition in his professional life and had helped him cultivate long friendships for as long as over a half century. He was a remarkable person who has exceled and exceeded the many roles that he has taken on, as a son, brother, husband, father, colleague, leader, Josephian, and Firstian.

His great heart and selflessness was built into his DNA as told by his long term buddy: "I met Pau when we were in grade 5. Our friendship has lasted for more than half a century. He always put others before himself. He is a very loyal and considerate buddy. When I was in second year of my high school, I broke my leg in a soccer game. Back in those days elevators were not very common. With a cast on my leg, mobility up and down flights of stairs was highly challenging. Without saying a word, Pau committed to come and pick me up and carry me on his back to go to school and take me home every day. I am deeply grateful for his kind and loving act. This is one of the favourite stories that my 88 year old mother enjoys telling my own children and grandchildren from time to time."

Under his love and care, not one thing would be missed nor miscalculated, providing a high level of assurance that things would get done. This makes him a natural born leader and mentor, demonstrating these skills back in his early school days -- as a Scout, cooking the infamous "Beggar chicken" and apple pie in a competition, and a captain of the soccer team, a proven goal scorer and supportive mid-fielder. Ultimately allowed him to achieve a high recognition in his professional life.

He has later turned to golf, an intricate and discipline sport that very much complements his personality. As expected, he poured all his heart into this sport, establishing new friendships and achieved great accomplishments along the way. It was one of his favorite pass time to help ease his pain.

In these couple of years, though facing the challenge of cancer, he remained very positive and continued to try all means to get himself better. He hardly complained and tried to make life as normal as it could be for himself and for his family, sharing joy with his grandsons, playing golf, watching soccer games and spending time with friends and families.

The time has come for God to relieve him from the suffering he has endured, we know he is now in a much better place, overseeing all of us. He shall be with us always.

A service willtake place St. Agnes Kouying Tsao Catholic Church, 2130 Rodick Road, Markham on Thursday, December 5th, 2019 at 10:30am

In lieu to tributes, instead of flower arrangements, we, with Augustine himself, encourage donations to be made to the two hospitals that has tended to him over the recent years. With the hope that a cure will be found such that less will have to go through the same challenge that he went through.
