James James BruceJAMES, James Bruce - (December 2, 1929 - March 2, 2020) -

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the James family announces the sudden passing of James Bruce James in Brampton Civic Hospital on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 90 years of age.

Loving husband of Dolores Anita (nee Pagnutty) and the late Dorothy Hazel (nee Killey).

Loving father of Greg, Jeff (deceased), Steve (Tina), Elizabeth, Kimberly (Ted), Carrie (Hans) Stepchildren Darin Brady (Joan), Lisa Wilson (Kevin).

Cherished grandfather of Noelle, PJ, Matthew, Ryan, Danielle, Dalton, Andrew, Wilika, Cassie, John, Samantha, Katrina and Jessica. Also loved by his great-grandchildren Paul, Sophie and Zahra and his many relatives and friends.

Bruce was born in Earl Gray, Saskatchewan, to George Nutt and Elizabeth James. He was the youngest of three children. The family moved to West Vancouver, B.C. in 1934 where Bruce attended Pauline Johnson Public School and West Vancouver High School.

Bruce left high school to join the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1949 and trained at RCMP Headquarters in Regina, Saskatchewan. Bruce had many postings with the RCMP starting with Saskatoon (where he met and married his first wife Dorothy), Ottawa, England, Germany, Hong Kong and Toronto.

After a long and distinguished career he retired from the RCMP as a Chief Superintendent in 1982.

Bruce met and married Dolores in 1984. He then took the job as Manager of Corporate Security for Imperial Oil and retired from there in 1986.

Bruce enjoyed golfing and worked at Pinestone Golf and Country Club in Haliburton, On. for four years. Bruce was the Director and President of the Haliburton 4C’s Food Bank for many years. He enjoyed being the Vice President of the Toronto Pillar Society for a few years.

Bruce was a happy, thoughtful, kind man who loved his large family and wonderful friends very much. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Emmanuel United Church, 420 Balmoral Drive, Brampton, Ontario on Saturday, March 7th at 2:00pm - Officiated by Rev. Rose Ann Vita.

Donations in Bruce's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
