MATHESON, Marion Elizabeth 'Betty' - Our family is heartbroken to announce Betty’s sudden passing on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Toronto.
Betty was born in Cheticamp, NS on September 30, 1958 to Donald and Anna Matheson.
She was predeceased by her father Donald, maternal grandparents Malcolm and Elizabeth MacLellan, paternal grandparents Willie and Mary Matheson, uncles Herbie, Eugene and RJ MacLellan.
Surviving to mourn her loss are her mother, Anna Matheson, Belle Cote; sister Debby (Harold) Gale, Edmonton; brother Ian (Joanne) Matheson, Perth; special friend Ivan Brijeski, Toronto; nephew Brett (Danusia) Gale; niece Erin (Albert) So and her precious grandnephews, whom she adored, Matheson and Finn Gale, Tao and Keo So, all of Edmonton.
She will be dearly missed by her loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Betty loved animals and leaves behind her dogs, Belle and Beau, and her cat Beanie.
Betty moved to Toronto after graduating from St.F.X. with her BSC in Nursing in 1980. She spent the first 20 years working in community nursing before becoming a Patient Care Manager at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, specializing in Geriatrics. She retired January 31, 2020 and was happily preparing to move to her home in Belle Cote in the coming months.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass and burial will be held at St. Michael’s Parish, East Margaree, NS at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
