Dorfman MarianDORFMAN, Marian - The children announce the passing of their mother in her home on Friday, April 3, 2020 in her 97th year.

Daughter of the late Rifka and Alex Gelman, wife of the late Martin Dorfman, and mother of Michael, Jennifer Lynne, Caryn, and Jason, grandmother of five grandchildren, great grandmother of eight, and great great grandmother of two.

Marian was born in Bialystok, Poland and immigrated to Canada with her family just before the Great Depression. She knew hardship as a child and later in life, two of her favourite charities were a girls' orphanage in Israel as well as the Daily Bread Food Bank.

She attended the Ontario College of Art and studied under Doris McCarthy. Marian loved dancing and movement and joie de vivre were innate to her art.

She met Martin Dorfman in Pontypool and the two married just as Marty had enlisted in the RCAF during WWII. He was stationed in Terrace, B.C. where the newlyweds began their family and developed lifelong friendships.

Another of Marian's favourite charities was IFCJ Canada's Isaiah 58 project which supports Holocaust survivors in the former Soviet Union.

A family graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 5th.
