BOEHM, Franz - (January 5, 1930April 24, 2020)

A simple and modest man, Frank came to Toronto from Germany with bare pockets and the drive to make a new life for himself. Hard work and honesty paid off as he happily worked for many years at the City of Toronto’s Parking Authority.

Always curious about others, he would ask questions about a neighbour’s trip, workday or health and was never shy to help a neighbour in need. Even in his 80s he was ready to pick up tools and help someone build their fence, weather seal a window, hang a door or build and install a gate to keep a dog safe.

Frank had a big soft spot for animals – though he might not have readily admitted it. With a beaming smile for a neighbour’s dog, Frank was ever-ready to ply a four-legged friend delighted to see him with a dog biscuit.

Until he was 90 Frank still went two to three times a week to a community pool exercise class. He once told a friend he does it because not doing it wouldn’t make him feel better. Those who knew him will remember him for that and much more. He left an indelible mark on everyone who got the time to know him.
