Settecase GiuseppinaSETTECASE, Giuseppa 'Giuseppina' (nee Arrigo)Giuseppina Settecase (nee Arrigo) was born in Termini Imerese, Palermo, Italy on May 29th, 1924 to Pasquale Arrigo and Anna Castro.

Giuseppina died peacefully at the blessed age of 96 on June 3rd, 2020, by complications from Covid-19 at Humber River Hospital, Toronto.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Stefano Settecase (1989), her two brothers Pietro, Giuseppe and three sisters, Francesca, Maria and Caterina, and sadly, by her beloved granddaughter, Stephanie De Mola (2016).

She is survived by her children: Graziella, son in law Sam, son Agostino and grandson Peter. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews in Italy, Canada and the U.S.

Giuseppina immigrated to Toronto in 1958 with her husband Stefano. She worked in the garment industry for many years as a seamstress. She was talented and handcrafted clothing for her family as well. She was also skilled in crafts like crochet, embroidery and knitting. Her greatest passion and pastime were her fruit and vegetable garden and her many plants in her green house. She tended to these and her home well into the age of ninety.

Giuseppina was a caring wife and mother, a devoted grandmother who delighted in seeing her 2 grandchildren grow up. She was a very strong, independent woman who was a widow for 30 years. Her strong Catholic faith and her iron will, empowered her to overcome all the hardships she faced in her life. In her late nineties, Giuseppina suffered from dementia/Alzheimer's. She enjoyed playing cards, especially "scopa", visits with family and creating art work. She was happy and pleasant with her friends and care givers at Villa Colombo.

We will miss her spirited nature, her stories and songs, her generosity and words of compassion. Giuseppina has gone home now to the house of the Lord.

Due to the current conditions and restrictions under COVID-19, a Private Funeral Service will be held June 9th at Ward funeral home, Weston chapel, followed by entombment at Forest Lawn cemetery. For those not attending, a livestream of Mrs. Settecase's funeral will take place. Check with the funeral home website.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in her honor, to one of the following charities:
