CROOKS, Derrick Lascelles - At the age of 62 was suddenly taken from us on Sunday June 7, 2020 after battling a severe illness and being in the ICU at Humber River Hospital.
He was born in Kingston, Jamaica and immigrated to Canada in the mid 70’s and settled in Toronto, ON with his parents and siblings. Derrick was the eldest of six children.
Shortly after settling in Toronto, ON he welcomed a daughter Kathleen Crooks and a few years later following the birth of his daughter he welcomed a son, Daniel Crooks.
He enjoyed current events, world religion and anything to do with CNN. He also loved to laugh and sing and had a great sense of humour. He enjoyed being around his family as much as he could. Derrick had a unique way of connecting with people and saying Good Morning in many different languages. We will miss all these things about him. Derrick will forever be loved, cherished, and remembered by all his family, relatives, and friends.
In addition to Kathleen and Daniel, Derrick is survived by his granddaughter Kasandra, his father Roy Crooks, and his siblings, Kingsley, Ronald, George, Yvonne, and Melrose. Along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased by his mother Lora Crooks.
It is with heavy hearts that the funeral service is private and limited only to immediate family. We are grateful for all your love and support during this difficult time and welcome your messages of condolences.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations in memory of Derrick Crooks to the Humber River Hospital Foundation https://www.hrhfoundation.ca/about/hrh-foundation/.
