Alves TeresaALVES, Teresa Lopes - (1951 - 2020) - On the morning of August 13, 2020, Teresa De Fatima Teixeira De Sousa Lopes Alves passed peacefully surrounded by her loving Children and Grandchildren.

Teresa is survived by her children Marcel, Clyde (Robyn), Crystal (Ben), Tessa and grandchildren Kahlen, Chase and Hudson. Her colourful life was enriched by her equally colourful siblings Aldina Oliveira, Rui and Meno Lopes.

Teresa’s beauty, talent, kindness and perseverance was nurtured by her parents Aldina Teixeira and José Dos Santos De Sousa Lopes.

Born October 16th, 1951 in Arrifes, São Miguel Açores, Teresa was blessed with a childhood shaped by an abundant family home life spiced with music, food, green pastures, and the freedom to roam.

She immigrated to Brampton, Ontario, Canada with her siblings in 1966. It wasn’t long before her shy exterior revealed a magnetic zest for life, making her a sure-fire popular and beloved member of the Portuguese, Canadian community.

Wed to Ermidio Fortunato in 1973 she dedicated most of her life to raising her four children.

As a younger woman she was a community beauty queen, high school posture queen, fastest typist in Ontario and took flying lessons, logging in two solo flights. She worked as a volunteer for several community organizations and achieved great adoration as a Singer, Songwriter and Recording Artist under the adopted stage name of “Misty."

Teresa was diagnosed with brain cancer in February of 2020. She fought with courage, determination and unrelenting laughter to the end.

Anyone who crossed paths with this diamond in the rough is feeling the loss of a gem which cannot be replaced. May she Cha Cha, sway, yodel, crochet, drum to the unique Teresa beat. May God give her eternal life in the most joyful places of the Universe.

Arrangements with Ward funeral home, Brampton chapel.
