James Peter Slade was the son of Dr. and Mrs. H.C. Slade, late pastor of Jarvis Street Baptist Church, Toronto, ON. He was born on June 17, 1936 in the parsonage of First Baptist Church, Timmins, ON where his father was then the pastor. At 6 years of age, Peter trusted the Lord Jesus as his Saviour while attending a Good News Bible Club.

After several years in his late teens and early twenties while learning the transport business, he founded his own company in 1964, “Slade’s Cartage” with headquarters now in Gormley, ON. He was a highly respected business man known for his integrity and God-honouring principles.

He has been a life-long member of Jarvis St Baptist Church, but also served as an elder at Toronto Free Presbyterian Church for 10 years and attended Faithway Baptist Church in Ajax, ON.

The many prayers, expressions of Christian love and sympathy during his passing have been greatly appreciated by Peter’s family. We will miss him dearly, but he is with Christ, which is far better.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham on Thursday, August 20th, 2020 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. The service will take place at Jarvis Street Baptist Church, 130 Gerrard St E, Toronto on Friday, August 21st, 2020 at 11:00am. Interment at Richmond Hill.
