CULMONE, Melchiorre - It is with saddened hearts, that the family of Melchiorre Culmone announces his graceful passing on November 1, 2020 at the age of 88.
Born on April 14, 1932, to Concetta and Vito Culmone, (loving brother to predeceased siblings Michelangelo and Francesco and surviving siblings Salvatore and Carmela), in the rural town of Delia, Sicily, Melchiorre, meaning king, light and splendor, was prophetic of the person he was to be and the life he was meant to live.
He finally found his new home away from home in 1965, when he settled in Canada with his young family where he built a life based on honesty, determination and faith. His prized possession was undoubtedly the love he shared with the woman of his dreams, and love of his life, Diega Falzone who became his wife 61 years ago.
Melchiorre proudly laid his new roots and built many wonderful memories as he discovered this promising land alongside his beloved predeceased brother in law Vincenzo Falzone, loved sister in law, Ivana Ruscitti and many other dear cousins who Melchiorre greatly adored.
Without a doubt, the true fruit of his labour and purpose in life were always his children: Connie (Alberto), Vito (Nancy), Joe (Antonella) and Josie (Casey), his grandchildren: Patrizia (Paolo), Marco, Michael, Emily, Joshua, Madelin, Tristan and Simon and his great grandchildren/biscottini: Alex, Daniel and Vivian and all their accomplishments.
His endless fight and will to survive was accompanied by many extraordinary medical professionals (Dr. Zaremba, Dr. Chua, Nurse Lee, and staff from Mackenzie Helps Program) whose relationships with Melchiorre were built on respect and awe of his unique zest for life. The family is forever grateful and truly touched by all those who tirelessly joined Melchiorre in his quest and quickly recognized that he indeed had the heart of a lion.
A man of friendship, brotherhood, connectedness and lasting impressions. Melchiorre will never be forgotten and always missed as he leaves behind a legacy seeded in the generations he proudly loved and cherished. May he now shine and merit the heavenly rewards of his lifetime of hard work, good deeds and especially great faith. Rest in peace beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, Godfather, compare, zio and friend.
