HANDJIS, Panagiota “Nota” - 84, went home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on November 3, 2020 after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer.
Panagiota was born on May 16th, 1936 to Ioannis and Zaxaroula Hagias in Geraki, Laconia, Greece. She moved to Toronto in 1962.
In 1963, Panagiota met Nicholas Handjis and they wed in May of 1964 in Sparta, Greece.
They had three children together, Panagioti/Peter, Dionisia/Denise and Alexis/Alex.
Panagiota was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother. She was loved by all of those around her and known for how hospitable she always was. She was a strong, selfless and resilient woman, an amazing cook, baker, and a master seamstress.
Panagiota is survived by her husband Nicholas, her son Panagioti/Peter Handjis, her daughter Dionisia/Denise Handjis (her husband Christos Akhovat), her son Alexi/Alex Handjis (his wife Megan Wagner), her brother Thomas (his wife Constantina) Hagias, her two sisters Mariana Mouseles and Alexandra Illiopolous and her grandchildren Patricia/Panagiota and Yanni Aneziris, and Xavier Wagner.
Arrangements with Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto. The service will take place at Metamorphosis Tou Sotiros Greek Orthodox Church, 40 Donlands Avenue, Toronto on Saturday, November 07, 2020 at 10:00AM.
