Amaro AlexandraAMARO, Alexandra Mary Orme - You will live forever in our hearts and memories.

In one tragic second, our beautiful baby girl, Alexandra, was taken from us.

Struck on her bike outside Dufferin Mall Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Her light shone radiantly on everyone who stepped into its welcoming warmth, and kind, natural glow.

Alex was a magnet who drew everyone together with her natural energy, empathy, intelligence, smile, laughter, humour, kindness, generosity, and quick quips … oh, she was sassy, and loved it.

At just 23, Alex lived a life that so many wouldn’t in a century … she made sure she packed it full of wonderful living. She was a journalism student at Ryerson University, a spiritual traveller, life philosopher, eloquent writer, prolific reader, earth lover, humble intellectual, avid cyclist, empathetic listener, beloved companion, and a beautiful human being.

We are grateful that her wanderlust and sense of adventure took her to so many places around the world. Cycling was a passion, and her beloved transportation around the city and beyond. Flowers filled her life for the last four years, with so many happy hours working at Crown Flora Studio … her other special family.

Alexandra will always be with us … in the warmth of the sunshine, in the gentleness of the rain, in the petals of a flower, in a special place, in simple conversation … in a warm embrace.

Alex is a little sister and best friend to her hero, Rebecca. Cherished daughter of George Amaro and Karen Orme. Beloved granddaughter to Ron and Myra Orme. Kin spirit to her uncle, Gary Orme and Anne Denning.

Cherished niece of Frank and Leonor Amaro, Luis and Fatima Amaro, Tony and Luisa Amaro, Rosa Costa and the late Delfim Costa, Susie and Nelson Assunçao. Sweetheart to all of her Amaro cousins, Tony (Iris), Mike (Sofia), Steve (Toni), Elizabeth (Leo), Diane (Rick), Brian (Emilia), Carla (Bruno), Jason (Andrea), Cristina (Felipe), Christopher, Michael, Nichole, Mark, and Nelson Jr., George, Stephen, Leo Jr., Logan, Camila, Peter, Amaya, Alice, Charlie, Olivia, Anneliese.

Clan member of the Scottish side of the family, great-niece to Janet and Steve Grey, Edna and Tom Carrick, and cousins Steven, Jill, Noah and Paige McInally, Lynn, Curtis, Joshua and Jordan Parsons, and Scott Carrick.

And a friend to so, so many.

Please commemorate Alex by supporting a local, independent business, planting some flowers, appreciating the sky, being kind, and smiling at a stranger.

If you’d like to make a donation to a charity, here are three that warmed Alex’s good heart: Parkdale Community Foodbank, Cycle Toronto, and the Loyalist Humane Society (Prince Edward County).

If you’d like to send flowers, Alex would love if they came from her happy work place – Crown Flora Studio – iThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. 416-904-2867.

Due to the current pandemic restrictions and under direction from our regulator, the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, effective November 23, 2020 all funerals and visitations will be by invitation only to limit the number of people in attendance and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We encourage those who are unable to attend in person to express their sympathy by posting a message of condolence to the website of Cardinal Funeral Homes, donating to a charity of your choice in memory of your loved one, or by sending flowers to the funeral home.

“See ya soon” our beautiful free spirit.
