Dignam VioletDIGNAM, Violet Carmel (nee CLARKE)   - May 12, 1934 - December 31, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Carmel Dignam, at the age of 86.

Violet was born in Dublin, Ireland, to Patrick and Molly Clarke and was one of seven children.

In her youth she would cycle miles to the beach, racing to get there before the tide went out.

She belonged to a theatre group while working for years at Woolworth's Department Store.

Violet married Michael Dignam when she was 20 and they moved to Bray where they had five children.

In 1965, Violet left Ireland for Canada with her children in tow to meet up with her husband, Michael. They gave up so much early on, leaving their family and friends to head across the pond, all for the love of their children.

Violet had a great sense of humour; she was always making people laugh. She had a saying for everything and a day doesn't go by without her family using one of them. She will always be a part of us. She was a great mother who was truly devoted to her children and grandchildren.

She had a kind soul and a big heart. We are all fortunate to have spent so much time with her.

Violet adored her six children, their husbands and wives, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many grand-pets. A celebration of life, followed by a private interment will take place at a later date.

Violet's family would like to thank the staff at Post Inn Village in Oakville, for their excellent care and support.

Those who wish to make a donation in Violet's memory, are asked to consider Diabetes Canada (diabetes.ca) or a charity of your choice.
